Commercial Roof Anchor Installation in Lake Zurich, IL and North Chicago Suburbs
Commercial Roof Anchor Installation
Licensed and insured up to $6 million
Roof anchors are common features on commercial roofing, especially for taller buildings. They are used in fall protection systems to hold ropes and lifelines that prevent workers and equipment from falling. These safety anchors must be installed at the proper points to work effectively, and they must be installed within OSHA regulations.
OSHA has strict rules regarding installation, maintenance, and capability requirements and property owners must always be in compliance with these rules. This is why it helps to have a professional like Reliable Roofing handle the installation and maintenance of roof anchors.

OSHA Requirements for Roof Anchors
Fall protection systems are used by roofers, window washers, and other workers that provide outside repairs and building maintenance. These systems are put in place for the safety of the workers which is why OSHA has such strict rules regarding the use of roof anchors. According to OSHA rule 1910.27(b), the owner of a building is responsible for installing roof anchors that can support at least 5,000 pounds. These anchors must also undergo annual inspections.
If you are a property owner looking to hire a service provider that will use your roof anchors, you must provide the company with written proof that your roof anchors are capable of supporting at least 5,000 pounds and that they have been tested, certified, and maintained. It is the responsibility of the employer to not allow any employees to begin using the roof anchors until they have been ensured by the property owner that they do meet the above requirements.
Roof Anchor Installation
Our roofing technicians at Reliable Roofing can properly install rooftop anchors on any type of commercial roof within the rules and regulations of OSHA.
Our roof anchor installation services consist of the following steps:
- We will determine the proper location for the anchor and cut out the roof membrane and insulation to fit the anchor.
- Reliable Roofing will remove the membrane and insulation and drill holes in the concrete deck for the bolts that will hold the anchor in place.
- The anchor is put in the space to make sure it fits properly, and bolted to the roof deck with concrete bolts and epoxy.
- Insulation is installed around the roof anchor and covered with a layer of roof membrane so that it is even with the rest of the roof.
- The top sheet of the roof membrane is torched over the base sheet and sealed with caulk around the anchor to form a watertight seal.
- A special curb containing epoxy is poured around the roof anchor to form a permanent, watertight flashing.
Whether you need new roof anchors installed, or an annual inspection for your current roof anchors, our professionals at Reliable Roofing can help. We will ensure that your roof anchors are installed correctly to keep you in compliance of OSHA standards, and more importantly, to protect the safety of roof workers.
